T.V. Themesong Wisdom And Philosophy: |
|
Maybe it doesn't hold true today as much as it did during the last 20 years of the last century, then again maybe it does but I haven't watched any television lately, but it seems that nearly every sitcom theme would start out whacky with a couple verses, then take a turn and get into the 'real' message of the show before finishing off with a last whacky verse. It's these 'real' messages that I think we should all turn to in times of need and remember life is not just a series of hilarious hijinx and big guffaws, but something we need to really ponder and philosophize on. Off the top of my head I can think of several shows that could not only make us roll in the aisles with laughter, but also guide us to a more enlightened path in our lives. Shows such as The Facts Of Life, Full House, Good Times, The Cosby Show, Punky Brewster, Silver Spoons, and Different Strokes are bound to have that golden nugget of wisdom hidden in the middle of their themesongs. My goal is to find them one by one, extract them from their zany holding chests, and present them here for what they truly are: Hidden gems of wisdom.
To get us all in the right mood, lets pop some popcorn, put on our slippers, get comfy on the couch and check out some
of these 80's classic themesongs in a delightful video hosted by Bruce Willis and that one actress that was in
Moonlighting with him.
