Intro To Coding

Blogs related to my early experiences with computers. From the Commodore 64 I got when I was 8 years old, through the almost 20 year period where I never looked at a computer and didn’t even know how to turn one on, to my early experiences in relearning computers through graphic design, printing, and early web development jobs.

Through my patched together understanding of how a computer works I was eventually able to start seeing a bigger picture. I eventually buckled down and started learning how to program for real, but with AI going the way it is I am starting to think of myself as an advanced vibe coder, which basically means I rely more and more on AI but have an understanding of what is happening enough to solve problems, refactor, and oversee the engineering in a realistic way instead of just having AI write me a program that I do not understand how it works. But all of that will be covered in the official coding section. This section is more about the long and windy path that got me here.
